Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is a draft prepared ahead of AllCarsAfrica's public launch and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It will be replaced with a finalized version before the platform is opened to the public.
What we collect
- Account information: name, email, phone number, password (stored securely, never in plain text)
- Business information, if you register as a dealer or rental business: business name, location, contact details
- Listings you create: vehicle details, photos, pricing
- Messages sent through our in-app messaging system between buyers and businesses
- Your approximate country, detected automatically to show relevant listings, which you can override
- Usage data: pages visited, searches performed, actions taken on the platform
How we use it
- To operate the core features of the platform: showing listings, enabling messaging, managing accounts and bookings
- To send account-related emails (e.g. password resets) via our email provider, Resend
- To prevent abuse, such as spam or excessive automated activity, through rate-limiting systems
- To improve the platform over time
Who we share it with
- Supabase, our database and authentication provider, which stores your account and platform data securely
- Resend, our email delivery provider, for transactional emails only
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties
- We do not currently process payments on your behalf; any rental or purchase payments happen directly between you and the business through their own payment provider
Your rights
- You can view, edit, or delete your account information at any time through your Account settings
- You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it by contacting us at [privacy@allcarsafrica.com — placeholder, replace with real contact]
- Deleting your account will remove your listings and personal information, though some records may be retained where required by law
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
Children's privacy
AllCarsAfrica is not intended for use by anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. We'll update the date above when we do.
